10 States With the Most HIMSS Stage 6, 7 Hospitals

Since 2005, HIMSS Analytics’ EMR Adoption Model has tracked electronic medical record adoption in hospitals and health systems throughout the country. To date, 681 hospitals have reached the penultimate stage 6 on the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model, and another 160 are at stage 7 and completely paperless.

The following states have the highest combined number of stage 6 and stage 7 hospitals.

  4. Illinois (39 hospitals)
  5. Virginia (39 hospitals)
  6. Pennsylvania (37 hospitals)
  7. Wisconsin (36 hospitals)
  8. Missouri (35 hospitals)
  9. Minnesota (34 hospitals)
  10. New York (34 hospitals)
