Novo Nordisk said that it will begin offering its popular weight loss drug Wegovy through telehealth companies Hims & Hers, Ro and LifeMD to expand patient access, now that the medication is no longer in short supply, CNBC News reported April 29.
Through the partnership, patients can access Wegovy directly via the telehealth firms and have the medication shipped to their homes.
The move comes as Novo Nordisk seeks to attract more patients who had previously relied on compounded versions of Wegovy, which are now restricted due to legal limitations.
“We’re really pleased about the level of interest to access branded Wegovy and to start to sort of catch people as they come off of compounded medicine,” Dave Moore, executive vice president of U.S. operations at Novo Nordisk told CNBC.
The drug will also be available through Novo Nordisk’s new online pharmacy, NovoCare, for $499 per month in cash, about half of the monthly list price for patients without insurance coverage.
