Wyoming health system to end vendor contract after patient billing errors

Cody (Wyo.) Regional Health is making changes to improve its billing process, according to a Cody Enterprise report.

The changes include handling billing internally by Dec. 1 and ending a contract with a Denver-based third-party vendor.

Under the changes, the system will provide a patient payment platform supporting the in-house management of self-pay billing statements, according to the report. Patients will be able to set up payment plans online and weigh in on billing issues.

"We have heard and continue to hear our patients' concerns surrounding our billing processes," Cody Regional CFO Randy Nightengale said in the report. "We have been proactively working on a solution and are confident these efforts will meet the needs of our patients and the community."

The system also has scheduled billing education courses next month for patients..

According to the report, the changes were spurred by patient complaints  about incorrect bills.
