The money directed to RIP Medical Debt will eliminate more than 2,000 families’ medical debt and be used to help Wisconsin residents.
Life Church pastors Shawn and Sonny Hennessy said they wanted to pay it forward after dealing with their own medical debts, according to the Press-Gazette. They owed money to a Seattle hospital after their daughter died from campomelic dysplasia, but the hospital forgave their medical debt.
Overall, RIP Medical Debt has forgiven about $700 million in medical debt, according to the charity’s website.
