Wildfire forces Calif. hospital to shut down

St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake (Calif.) evacuated patients and closed over the weekend due to a major wildfire in the area, Lake County News reports.

The fast-moving fire broke out late Saturday afternoon. As of Monday afternoon, fire department officials said the wildfire spanned 2,000 acres and was 5 percent contained, according the article.

St. Helena Hospital officials closed the facility Sunday and transferred at least 16 patients to Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport, Calif.

The hospital will remain closed until further notice, according to a statement obtained by Lake County News.

St. HelenaHospital is part of Adventist Health in Roseville, Calif.
