Positions cut from the 382-bed hospital include registered nurses and staff members who transport patients throughout departments.
WellStar officials are hoping to reassign those employees to different positions. The company has a mandatory transfer and displacement policy, in which eligible staff must be offered a position within this system.
A WellStar spokesperson said the layoffs are due to lower patient volumes and an increase in uninsured patients.
