Silverdale, Wash.-based St. Michael Medical Center plans to close its pediatric outpatient rehabilitation clinic April 24, the Kitsap Sun reported March 12.
The decision to close the clinic — which offered occupational and physical therapy — was determined through a “thoughtful “thoughtful discernment process” that determined the closure is necessary to adapt to ongoing financial pressures, according to the report.
A hospital spokesperson said they are working closely with affected patients to ensure a smooth transfer of care to alternative therapy providers, according to the report.
The spokesperson did not specify how many jobs would be affected by the changes, and the hospital is still working on transition plans, according to the report. The hospital is part of Tacoma, Wash.-based Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and some employees could take other positions with the system.
