Laura Bruno, controller and CFO of Brattleboro (Vt.) Memorial Hospital, exited her role Dec. 12. The move comes in the wake of the board saying in late November that the hospital’s president and CEO, Christopher Dougherty, would not be returning from his leave of absence.
David Sanville, Brattleboro Memorial’s executive financial consultant, became interim CFO Dec. 12, according to a statement shared with Becker’s. Patrick Nudo, an Ovation Healthcare consultant, will also serve as the hospital’s senior director of finance.
The Green Mountain Care Board said in an Oct. 1 budget order that it was “deeply troubled” about Brattleboro Memorial’s financial stability, and that the hospital could face “risk of a sudden solvency crisis, which would potentially harm its community and the statewide system of care.”
“These decisions were made after careful consideration and reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of leadership and accountability within our organization,” the statement said. “We thank Laura Bruno for her service and contributions during her tenure as controller and chief financial officer. Our focus now is on ensuring a smooth transition and continuing to deliver on our mission without interruption.”
