Vandalia Health turns loss into $72M gain following acquisitions

Charleston, W.Va.-based Vandalia Health reported operating income of $72.2 million for the first half of 2023 on revenues of $1.2 billion.

The positive income report follows a loss of $62.8 million in the same period in 2022. Between the two periods, the system changed structure with the integration of Morgantown, W.Va.-based Mon Health on Sept. 1, 2022, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center on Jan. 1, 2023, and Oak Hill, W.Va.-based CAMA Plateau Medical Center on April 1, 2023.

Expenses rose 61% to total $1.1 billion for the first half of 2023.

As of June 30, Vandalia Health is a 10-hospital system and the second-largest system in West Virginia with an employee total of 11,700.
