The health system plans on tearing down its existing medical building — Penn Tower — and building the new tower at the same site. The tower will be built in multiple phases over several years. The proposed tower would feature 700 patient beds, 50 operating rooms, a relocated emergency room and other medical-related programs.
The health system has sent letters to prospective construction companies, architectural and other firms based in Philadelphia regarding their interest in participating in the development, according to the report.
