The rates, which are from surveys with 44,000 people, show how the Affordable Care Act has reduced the overall uninsured rate.
The survey found 11.4 percent of people remained uninsured during the second quarter of this year. After the federal administration’s Feb. 15 deadline to purchase health insurance, the uninsured rate decreased from 11.9 percent to its current 11.4 percent. The uninsured rate has dropped from a high of 18 percent since the insurance marketplaces opened.
The greatest declines of almost 10 percentage points were in the Hispanic and black communities and among people making less than $36,000 a year.
The rate is likely to drop again during next year’s sign-up period, according to The Hill.
