Through nearly the first half of fiscal year 2015, which runs from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015, UNC Health Care has an operating income of $60 million, according to the report. That’s almost triple what it budgeted and four times what it posted in fiscal year 2014 for the same time period, the report reads.
UNC Health Care’s strong financial start was “buoyed by strong performance at its flagship hospitals in Chapel Hill,” according to the report.
UNC Health Care is comprised of Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Hospitals, the UNC School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, community practices, home health and hospice services in seven central North Carolina counties, Raleigh, N.C.-based Rex Healthcare and Chatham Hospital in Siler City, N.C.
