UHS revenues jumped 6.8 percent year over year to $2.43 billion in the second quarter of 2016. The financial boost was attributable, in part, to an increase in patient volume. On a same-facility basis, UHS saw admissions climb 3.9 percent year over year at its acute care hospitals when adjusted for outpatient activity.

The for-profit hospital operator recorded net income of $185.58 million in the second quarter, up from $182.19 million in the same period of 2015.
