Montgomery, Ala.-based Jackson Hospital detected “suspicious activity” June 8 in its computer network and has opened an investigation into the incident.
The investigation, which involves third-party cybersecurity and digital forensic specialists, appears to be a limited event with no data loss, according to a statement shared with Becker’s.
Patient care has also not been affected, and the hospital plans to share more details as they become available.
Jackson Hospital sought Chapter 11 protection in February 2025 and is in an ongoing dispute with BCBS Alabama. The financially challenged hospital’s CEO John Quinlivan warned in early June of imminent closure should the insurer not agree to raise reimbursement rates for the facility.
