Top 5 hospital ERP vendors by market share

Hospitals have been slow to implement enterprise resource planning platforms, with adoption rising from 19 percent in 2008 to 38 percent in 2018, according to an analysis from market research adviser HIMSS Analytics, a subsidiary of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

ERP platforms are advertised as business management systems that improve operational efficiency by integrating data from several different areas of an organization, such as payroll, materials management, supply procurement and supply chain management.

Despite slow adoption in the past decade, nearly half of hospitals (46 percent) are highly likely to purchase an ERP platform in the near future, according to HIMSS Analytics.

"It's uncertain if or when ERP adoption rates will speed up or if any one thing might spark a huge shift in this market. However, one thing is for sure: The ERP market has plenty of room to grow," the analysis reads.

Here are the top five ERP vendors for hospitals, ranked by market share:

1. Infor Healthcare: 43 percent

2. Oracle: 33 percent

3. Allscripts: 7 percent

4. SAP: 6 percent

5. Cerner: 4 percent
