Southeastern Ohio Regional, with its ambulance company and physician group, is Guernsey County’s largest employer, with more than 700 staff.
OhioHealth partnered with Southeastern Ohio Regional six years ago and began managing it in October 2018. In that partnership, OhioHealth employed the CEO and provided other services, but did not control finances.
Once the deal closes, OhioHealth will comprise 13 hospitals, with plans to open its 14th — Pickerington Methodist Hospital, a $140 million facility — in late 2023. The merger makes OhioHealth the sole owner, replacing Columbus-based Guernsey Health Systems as parent.
The hospital will rebrand as OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center after the transaction is completed. United Ambulance will become OhioHealth Southeastern Ambulance and Superior Med Physicians will change its name to OhioHealth Physician Group.
“We have a great team and make an impact daily inside our facilities and within the communities we serve,” Guernsey CEO Wendy Elliott, said in a Dec. 15 news release. “To now be part of the OhioHealth family, and the excellence and values this organization brings, is the perfect fit, at the perfect time.”
