The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center selects Strata for cost accounting

Strata Decision Technology recently announced that The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has selected StrataJazz for decision support, cost accounting and contract analytics.

Ohio State Wexner Medical Center is one of the largest and most diverse academic medical centers in the U.S., totaling more than 1,300 beds and more than 21,000 employees across central Ohio. OSUWMC and University Hospital East were among the top 5% of hospitals in the nation to receive the “2016 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence” from Healthgrades. Their staff has also been nationally recognized by publications like Magnet Recognition, UHC, Healthcare’s Most Wired, U.S. News & World Report and Best Doctors in America.

“Access to accurate and actionable information on cost is critical to driving effective use of our resources,” stated Mark Larmore, Chief Financial Officer at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. “Advanced cost accounting is one way we bring clinical and financial data together to deliver value to the patients we serve.”

StrataJazz will be integrated with Ohio State Wexner Medical Center’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system from EPIC to analyze and better manage costs across entire episodes of care, service lines and patient populations.

“Just like EHRs on the clinical side, cost accounting has become a critical core system from a financial perspective as organizations prepare for value-based care,” stated Dan Michelson, Chief Executive Officer at Strata. “The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center understands the need and the opportunity to improve financial performance in order to be able to continue to invest in driving overall clinical outcomes.”
