The 10 most profitable hospitals in North Texas

Texas holds more hospitals than any other state, and it holds the most rural hospitals at risk of closing of any state. However, it also has its fair share of financially successful hospitals.

Lake Granbury Medical Center is the most profitable hospital in the state's northern region, D Magazine reported Jan. 17.

Its total facility cost rings in at 626 percent what Medicare would reimburse for the services it provides, while its break-even point lands at 282 percent Medicare's reimbursement rates, according to data from Sage Transparency, which was launched by the Employers' Forum of Indiana. The resulting difference of 344 percent represents the hospital's profitability.

Medicare rates were used as a common point of comparison, the report said.
