Select Specialty Hospital, operated by Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based Select Medical, treats patients with acute or chronic respiratory conditions.

“We expect to have all patients discharged by Feb. 2 to either another acute care facility or home, if appropriate,” Shelly Eckenroth, vice president of communications for Select Medical, told The Dallas Morning News.

Ms. Eckenroth said Select Medical is exploring opportunities to move the 96 affected staff members to other facilities in its Texas network.

The facility is the latest healthcare facility in Garland to announce plans to shut its doors. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center of Garland plans to close Feb. 28 because of declining patient volumes.
