Wichita Falls, Texas-based Kell West Regional Hospital will close its doors after more than 25 years of service, according to an Oct. 22 Facebook post from United Regional Health Care System, also based in Wichita Falls.
Kell West and its property will be acquired by United Regional for “future use.”
The hospital, which is physician-owned, will wind down operations in the coming weeks and work with United Regional to ensure continued care. The post cited a review of the evolving healthcare landscape, including cost of infrastructure needs and care, patient volumes and reimbursement rates as reasons for the hospital’s decision to close.
“Kell West’s transition is the result of thoughtful consideration and examination of whether we could continue to sustain our commitment to our staff, physicians, and community,” Jerry Myers, MD, CEO of Kell West, said in the post. “We are proud of what we have built over several decades, and the many lives our team has impacted over the years.”
