The hospital had stopped its lung transplant program in May due to the departure of its primary lung transplant surgeon and had stopped its heart transplant program in July due to low patient volume, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.
The recruitment of T. Sloane Guy, MD, as chief of cardiothoracic surgery and Yoshiya Toyoda, MD, as director of heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support have provided the leadership needed to restart the programs, according to the release.
