New Jersey’s Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority Defends Former CEO’s Buyout

The Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority, the city entity that runs Hoboken (N.J.) University Medical Center, said the $600,000 severance package to former HUMC CEO Spiros Hatiras met the conditions of his contract, according to a Jersey Journal report.

Mr. Hatiras’ contract outlined the severance package would be paid “upon termination, non-renewal or expiration of the term of Employment Agreement,” the report said. Although his departure was a mutual agreement, the HMHA still thought he was entitled to the package because he was still “terminated.”
