The donation will help fund the construction of Sacred Heart’s new four-story children’s hospital. The new hospital, expected to be completed in 2019, is intended to consolidate inpatient pediatric services and increase access to specialized care.

“We’re over the moon excited. It is such a generous gift from Bubba and Angie,” Sacred Heart Health System President and CEO Susan Davis told the Pensacola News Journal. “Bubba is a very talented golfer, but he’s also very philanthropic. He really cares about children and their health, so we just can’t stop smiling.”

Mr. Watson announced the donation after he received a $1 million dollar prize for winning the MetLife MatchUp, an online voting contest to recognize players who overcome challenging situations on the course.
