Texas, Florida and California have the most for-profit community hospitals of any state, while five states have none, according to data compiled by KFF.
The data, current as of 2024, comes from the American Hospital Association’s annual survey. It reflects community hospitals, which make up 85% of all hospitals in the U.S., according to KFF.
Here are the 10 states with the most for-profit community hospitals:

3. California: 92
4. Louisiana: 65
