The project would involve multiple components, including a new building with 60 inpatient beds, a laboratory and medical imaging services area, and additional space for outpatient, cardiac and critical care. St. Luke’s also plans to build a new ambulance circle, a central plant with a parking garage and a new medical building. Furthermore, the project would include a new shipping-and-receiving building and a new building for pediatric care to ease crowding at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, a section of the main hospital, according to the report.

St. Luke’s intends to carry out the expansion plan in phases over the coming decades. The health system still needs to obtain permits from the city of Boise and the Ada County Highway District, and subsequently has yet to finalize a groundbreaking date and construction timeline, according to the report.

St. Luke’s estimates the expansion will cost $300 million to $400 million. The health system intends to fund the project with bond debt, donations and its own cash, according to the report.
