Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.-based Americore Health and several of its hospitals, including St. Alexius Hospital, entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy Dec. 30. St. Alexius must receive bankruptcy court approval to make payments, causing the hospital to delay paychecks, according to the report.
St. Alexius was scheduled to distribute payroll Jan. 3. The hospital is expected to make payroll after a bankruptcy hearing on Jan. 8, a lawyer for the debtors in the bankruptcy case told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
This is the second time St. Alexius has entered bankruptcy in two years. The hospital was previously owned by Promise Healthcare Group, which filed for bankruptcy in 2018 and sold its stake in the hospital last year, according to the report.
