St. Clair Hospital’s Patient Estimates is an effort to address the growing consumer demand for cost transparency in medical services, spurred in part by increasing out-of-pocket costs for insured patients.
The pricing tool considers each patient’s insurance benefits, deductible, co-pay and co-insurance, in addition to discounts for payment on day of service and for individuals without insurance, to arrive at an accurate price estimate for medical services performed at the hospital.
Currently the tool can determine costs for 105 of the most common tests and medical procedures based on the patient’s health insurance plan, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The tool is available online through St. Clair’s website.
