Fort Mill, S.C.-based Piedmont Medical Center plans to realign services across its two hospital campuses, ending obstetrics and labor and delivery services at one location and moving them to another.
Four things to know:
1. Obstetrics, labor and delivery and neonatal services will be centralized at Piedmont Medical Center Fort Mill, effective May 12, according to a March 27 health system news release.
2. In doing so, Piedmont Medical Center Rock Hill (S.C.) will expand trauma, surgical, neurosurgery and cardiovascular care services. The Rock Hill campus will continue providing full obstetrical services until the May transition. Afterward, its emergency department staff will remain equipped to care for pregnant patients seeking emergency services, the release said.
3. Piedmont Physicians Network plans to add an obstetrics and gynecology location in Indian Land, S.C., which will complement its existing physician offices to strengthen access to care.
4. Fort Mill CEO Chris Mitchell said focusing on women’s services at the Fort Mill campus will allow mothers, babies and families throughout the region to receive high-quality, personalized care.

Piedmont Medical Center Rock Hill is a 282-bed, level 3 trauma hospital. Piedmont Medical Center Fort Mill is a 100-bed community hospital.
