The survey, conducted in May in June among 1,421 small-business owners, found controlling healthcare costs was the most common small-business issue brought to elected officials.

Forty percent of respondents said they contacted elected officials about the issue. That’s higher than the 38 percent who contacted elected officials about a local issue or the 37 percent who contacted elected officials about tax reform.
