Shaggy donates $529k worth of equipment to Bustamante Hospital for Children

Orville Richard Burrell, known by his stage name Shaggy, donated approximately $529,000 worth of equipment, hospital furniture, parts and accessories to Kingston, Jamaica’s Bustamante Hospital for Children, according to DanceHallHipHop.com.

The donation to the hospital was made by the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation. Shaggy’s wife Rebecca Burrell, who serves as executive director of the foundation, said this is the first of two donations of necessary equipment to the hospital. The foundation has provided over $2 million worth of equipment to maintain services at the hospital, which is reliant of public funding.  

The Jamaican superstar has raised the funds for his donations through a concert series, “Shaggy and Friends” that has been around since 2009.

Bustamante Hospital for Children is the only children’s hospital amongst English speaking nations in the Caribbean.
