S&P: Healthcare credit upgrades outpaced downgrades in 2015

S&P issued 83 credit upgrades and 46 downgrades in the healthcare sector in 2015.

In December 2014, S&P revised its criteria for rating nonprofit hospitals, and criteria were the driving factors in 41 upgrades and 19 downgrades in 2015. The second-leading cause was finances — the main factor in 35 upgrades and 25 downgrades.

S&P said it only made four multiple-notch rating changes in the healthcare sector in 2015.
