R1 has completed its acquisition of Humata Health, an AI-powered touchless prior authorization company, according to a Sept. 16 post on R1’s LinkedIn page.

R1 first announced plans to acquire Humata in August. R1 said the deal marks a significant step in advancing its strategy to comprehensively automate the revenue cycle through its Phare Operating System, and that the acquisition will expand Phare’s AI-powered capabilities while helping providers cut administrative complexity, sharpen reimbursement accuracy and strengthen financial outcomes.

Humata’s platform automates prior authorization end to end.  R1 said the technology has driven up to a 96% first-pass approval rate, a 30% reduction in write-offs, an 83% reduction in rescheduled appointments and a 45% reduction in staff touches for health systems using it.

“The goal is to shift revenue cycle workflows to the left by optimizing AI, clinical data and payer intelligence to prevent administrative friction, care delays and revenue leakage before they occur,” R1 said in a Sept. 16 post on its website. “gDespite inflation, an ounce of prevention is still worth a pound of cure.”
