Rehabilitation hospitals lobby to prevent payment cuts

American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association officials are urging members of Congress to avoid cutting certain payments to counteract the cost of paying physicians under Medicare, according to a report by The Hill.

Among other things, the association would like to prevent site-neutral payments , which would reduce Medicare payments to rehabilitation hospitals, according to the report.

The American Health Care Association, which represents nursing homes, is also lobbying for the programs that it doesn’t want to see cut, according to the report.

It is not uncommon for health groups to go to Congress to try to prevent their programs from being cut prior to scheduled cuts to physician payments under Medicare. Congress typically passes legislation that prevents the cuts to physician payments, the report reads.
