RCM tip of the day: Focus on the root causes of denials

As healthcare organizations seek to reduce denials, it is important to identify why denials are occurring in the first place, according to Bill Knox, vice president of product management at Alpharetta, Ga.-based nThrive.

Mr. Knox shared the following tip with Becker’s Hospital Review.

“Examine the underlying causes of denials. This is the first step to improving denials. Mapping tools can help automate the denials identification process using relevant data from the denied claim, and automatically routing each denial to the right team for resolution. Look for a tool with a powerful rules engine so that your processes reflect your specific contracts and business needs.”
