R1 RCM has launched the Phare Operating System, which it said is healthcare’s first revenue operating system powered by enterprise-grade artificial intelligence.

The Phare OS is built to deploy agentic and labor tools across the revenue cycle to improve throughput, reduce cost to collect and boost yield, according to an Oct. 22 R1 news release.

While the operating system is designed for autonomous operations, it uses proprietary intelligence and advanced analytics to support more accurate decisions, backed by a full audit trail and history, according to the release.

Phare OS is fully integrated across all major EHRs and banks, with connections to more than 1,000 payers and visibility into more than 670 million annual patient encounters. The operating system can also adapt to policy and payer shifts in real time.

The operating system’s launch follows R1’s recently completed acquisition of Phare Health, a healthcare technology company developing AI tools for inpatient coding and clinical documentation improvement.

As part of the launch, R1 announced that it entered into an agreement with Ocean Springs, Miss.-based Singing River Health System to deploy Phare’s agentic tools across the health system.

“R1’s innovative agentic AI technology will help us simplify processes, strengthen performance, and capture more revenue, all so we can stay focused on what matters most: improving health and saving lives right here in our community,” Singing River CFO Jason McNeil said in the release.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
