The following six health systems recently released their financial statements for the third quarter of 2017.
1. Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care saw revenue increase 13.8 percent to $1.6 billion in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2016. The system ended the quarter with operating income of $56.2 million, up $7.2 million from the same period in 2016.
2. Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network recorded revenue of $771.3 million in the third quarter, up from $711.7 million in the same period a year prior. The system reported operating income of $10.6 million in the quarter, reflecting a year-over-year improvement from the network's $17.6 million operating loss in the third quarter of 2016.
3. Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente saw revenue increase to $18.3 billion in the third quarter of this year. That's up nearly 13 percent from revenue of $16.2 billion in the same period of 2016. Kaiser reported operating income of $850 million in the third quarter of this year, up from $672 million in the same period of 2016.
4. Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare saw revenue decline 5.5 percent in the third quarter of this year to $1.5 billion, down from $1.6 billion in the same period a year prior. Kindred posted an operating loss of $18.9 million in the third quarter of this year, an improvement from the $649.2 million operating loss it reported in the same period a year prior.
5. Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic saw revenues climb 9.3 percent year over year to $2.97 billion in the third quarter of 2017. After expenses, Mayo Clinic ended the third quarter with operating income of $182 million, more than double its operating income of $86 million in the same period last year.
6. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health reported revenues of $499.3 million in the third quarter of this year, down from revenues of $543.9 million in the same period of 2016. The system reported operating income of $3.1 million in the third quarter, down from $17.5 million in the same period a year prior.
