Currently, health plans can only cover certain preventive services, like immunizations, without cost sharing before a deductible is met. The proposed legislation would add services for managing chronic illnesses, such as asthma and diabetes, to that list.
House Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) introduced the legislation.
“We are constantly looking for innovative policy solutions to lower the cost of healthcare without compromising its quality, and this legislation does just that,” Ms. Black said in a prepared statement.
