Prisma Health records $31.7M operating loss as expenses rise almost 4%

Greenville, S.C.-based Prisma Health reported an operating loss of $31.7 million for the six months ending March 31 on revenue of $2.9 billion.

The loss built on the $22.9 million operating loss for the same period ending March 31, 2022, when revenues were $2.8 billion.

Overall expenses rose by 3.8 percent with labor costs rising 0.8 percent to total $1.73 billion. Improved investment performance resulted in overall net income of $153.5 million compared with a net loss of $74.5 million in the previous period.

Days of cash on hand totaled 115.7 as of March 31, compared with 122.9 as of Sept. 30.

Prisma Health operates 18 acute care and specialty hospitals, serving approximately 1.5 million patients.
