Piedmont and WellStar partnered to create the new insurance provider, which will offer group coverage through the new health insurance marketplaces this fall, according to the report. Ronnie Brownsworth, MD, has been named CEO of Piedmont WellStar HealthPlans.
The new insurance provider isn’t the health systems’ first joint project. Last year, Piedmont and WellStar created the Georgia Health Collaborative to establish services and initiatives focusing on the development of healthcare delivery models, economically aligned physician relationships and create service line cost savings.
