Physicians, hospitals have until May 15 to dispute CMS' 2016 Open Payment records

Teaching hospitals and physicians looking to review and dispute CMS' Open Payments data can do so through May 15.

CMS' Open Payments program provides public records from manufacturers and group purchasing organizations about their financial interactions with physicians and hospitals. Under the voluntary program, hospitals and physicians can register for Open Payments in the CMS Enterprise Portal to evaluate transactions and dispute data inaccuracies within a 45-day period ending May 15.

Following the reporting period, manufacturers and GPOs have 15 days to resolve and correct the disputed records. Any debates not resolved in the 15-day span will be published on the Open Payments website June 30 and marked as disputed.

Physicians and teaching hospitals can register here. Registered users can access the CMS Enterprise Portal here
