Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and other local hospitals have also picked up patients who would have previously gone to St. Joseph’s for care.
In December, North Philadelphia Health System said it would close 146-bed St. Joseph’s as the system consolidated operations. The system originally planned to close the hospital March 31, but the hospital ceased operations March 11, according to The Inquirer.
Of the 675 St. Joseph’s workers, 400 have new jobs, Kevin Feeley, a spokesman for North Philadelphia Health System told The Inquirer. Hahnemann University Hospital hired 28 former St. Joseph’s employees.
