Bradford (Pa.) Regional Medical Center, part of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health, has submitted a closure notice to discontinue its inpatient and emergency services by May 17 amid ongoing financial challenges.
“BRMC, as a whole, is not closing but transitioning to an outpatient health center providing access to primary and specialty care,” the hospital said on its website.
The hospital shared plans for the service closures in mid-February, which will affect 238 employees. Impacted staff will have the opportunity to seek other Kaleida Health positions and will receive “all necessary compensation,” the hospital said.
The closure encompasses a 20-bed inpatient unit, emergency department, sleep disorders center, pharmacy, and imaging and radiology, SMART rehab, infusion and respiratory therapy services.
Unaffected outpatient services include primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, general surgery and wound care, cardiology, urology, orthopedics and sports medicine, medical oncology, pain management and physical medicine rehab, occupational health and phlebotomy.
BRMC said it will notify patients through letters and public notices about the service closures and that it has not filed for bankruptcy.
