Employees at Sharon (Pa.) Regional Medical Center have been paid after the hospital missed two consecutive pay cycles in October, a hospital spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s Nov. 3.

In a statement shared with Becker’s, the spokesperson said the hospital had received funding to cover the delayed payroll.

Sharon Regional paused inpatient services Oct. 29. Its emergency department remains open and is accepting patients, the spokesperson said.

“We continue to explore all available options for the hospital’s future, and no final decisions have been made,” the spokesperson said. “If inpatient care is needed, patients will be stabilized and transferred to an appropriate facility for continued treatment.”

Employees were initially due to be paid Oct. 9, a payday pushed back by the Columbus Day holiday, and again Oct. 23. The hospital missed both.

The hospital had already been through a shutdown. Dallas-based Steward Health Care, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2024, closed the facility in January 2025. Tenor Health Foundation, a Pasadena, Calif.-based hospital turnaround company, acquired it and reopened it as Sharon Regional Health System in late May 2025.
