The second phase of Orlando (Fla.) Health’s demolition plan for its shuttered Rockledge (Fla.) Hospital is set to begin Dec. 1, and last around five months, according to a Nov. 19 post on the city of Rockledge’s website.
Orlando Health, which closed Rockledge Hospital April 22, had planned to demolish the 289-bed facility in late September, along with “outparcels on the medical campus.”
Rockledge Hospital was one of three hospitals that Orlando Health acquired from Dallas-based Steward Health Care in October 2024 for $439 million. Melbourne Regional Medical Center and Sebastian River Medical Center were also part of the acquisition.
Orlando Health shared plans in mid-April to spend more than $750 million on a new hospital, physician offices and freestanding emergency departments over a four-year period.
