The hospital did acknowledge that it was working to reform the home health program. The hospital was looking to allow the program to bill insurance for travel to rural parts of the county and direct patient care.
Blue Mountain warned that some patients might see a rise in their copay due to the new billing procedure.
“These kinds of flyers and misinformation just make it harder for us to do our job,” Zach Bailey, MD, the hospital’s chief of staff, told the Eagle. “We’re not looking to cut services. We’re just looking to get reimbursed better for the services we already provide.”
