Orbograph, Digital Check partner to resolve exception items problem: 3 things to know

Orbograph, a healthcare revenue cycle management automation solutions company, and Digital Check, a provider of check scanner systems for the distributed check capture industry, have formed a strategic alliance aimed at fixing the problem of exception images generated from checks and negotiable items not conducive to imaging.

Here are three things to know about the alliance.

1. The alliance involves Digital Check's Clear Inlineimage enhancement software, as well as Orbograph's new OrboAnywheremulti-channel image validation solution.

2. Through this alliance, Clear Inline gathers problem images that fail initial point-of-capture recognition processes, gets rid of background interference and enhances hard-to-read handwriting or printed text on checks and money orders, according to a news release. The system produces new clear and readable images suitable for automated processing, which are then run through OrboAnywhere's recognition and image validation processes to minimize back-office operator entry and review.

3. Jeff Hempker, Digital Check's executive vice president, spoke positively of the alliance. "There is an unspoken problem minimized in the industry today around the topic of unreadable and unusable images," he said in a prepared statement. "Self-service devices are generating a higher number of images which are unreadable. This creates downstream posting issues and customer complaints. Strategically, financial institutions love improving the customer experience, while tactically, they can reduce costly day two processing expense."
