Wagoner (Okla.) Community Hospital employees did not receive their expected paychecks March 13 and were informed via email that pay would be delayed, ABC affiliate KTUL reported March 16.
The hospital cited “soft business deposits” from insurers, patients and government reimbursements as cause for the delay, KTUL said.
In its most recent statement to the outlet, the hospital said a wire transfer was scheduled to be sent the morning of March 17 to cover the overdue wages via direct deposit.
Wagoner Councilor Nathaniel Wilson said in a March 16 Facebook post that he had requested an emergency meeting with the hospital to address public concerns “related to past and recent payroll delays.”
“The goal of this review is simple: to ensure that employees are treated fairly, that the hospital remains strong and stable for the patients who rely on it, and that the public maintains confidence in the institutions that serve our community,” he said in the post.
In 2025, the Wagoner City Council approved a $350,000 emergency loan to the hospital to cover payroll after a federal funding delay, which the hospital repaid, the KTUL report said.
