The 104 claims — 80 outpatient and 15 inpatient — that did not comply with Medicare billing requirements resulted in the hospital receiving $341,221 in overpayments.
Based on its findings, the OIG recommended the hospital refund the Medicare contractor the total overpayment and strengthen controls to ensure full compliance with Medicare requirements.
Christian Hospital agreed with the OIG’s findings and recommendations. The hospital said it has paid back the overpayment amounts in full and taken corrective actions to implement the OIG’s recommendations.
