Amerigroup Ohio, Buckeye Community Health Plan, Molina Healthcare of Ohio, WellCare of Ohio and Carelink Health Plans asserted Ohio’s bidding process was “seriously flawed,” and they asked the results of the bidding process be thrown out or redone, according to the report.
Some of the losing managed care companies also argued several of the winning bidders submitted false information that boosted their profiles during the bidding process. It is unknown when or if the filed protests would lead to an altered decision from the state.
Overall, Ohio expects to save roughly $1.5 billion over the next two years through its managed care Medicaid reforms.
