Mount Vernon, Ohio-based Knox Community Hospital has struck a three-year agreement to outsource its billing services to Ovation Healthcare, effective Feb. 1, the Knox Pages reported Jan. 27.
Under the agreement, all 42 of Knox’s hospital and physician billing staff were offered the opportunity to transfer their employment to Ovation, and most accepted, according to the report.
Knox CEO Bruce White said it has gotten more difficult for hospitals, and particularly rural community hospitals, to bill and stay on top of collecting reimbursement for services provided, according to the report.
The hospital previously partnered with Ovation on a one-year contract in December 2024 to assist with accounts receivable that grew after the February 2024 Change Healthcare cyberattack, according to the report. Through that partnership, Ovation collected more than $12 million for Knox on accounts receivable.
